Now Recruiting: Participate in a Research Study! 

In collaboration with Pearson Canada Assessment, YHA is recruiting participants between the ages of 4-19, to partake in the development of the WIAT4 (Wechsler Individual Achievement Test— Fourth Edition: Canadian). 

Who can participate?

We are looking for people between the ages of 4 and 19 years.

What will the study involve?

Participants will be asked to do activities like reading words, describing pictures, repeating sentences, listening to stories, answering questions, and answering math problems. 

Where?

The study activities will take place in person. A professional will administer these activities to you at a location that is convenient for you! 

What’s in it for me?

To thank you for your time, participants will be given an Amazon gift card worth $25-$75 depending on their age. 

How long will this study take?

This study can take anywhere between 30-180 minutes depending on the participant’s age. 


We will be recruiting for the following studies: 

WIAT-4 Standardization Study 

The candidate may participate if: 

✓ The individual is between 4- 19 years old. 

✓ The individual resides in Canada. 

✓ The individual is able to take the test in a standard manner.

WIAT-4 Standardization Study: Intellectually Gifted 

The candidate may participate if: 

✓ The individual is between 4-18 years old. The student still finishing secondary school but over the age go 18 will be accepted. 

✓ The individual resides in Canada. 

✓ The individual is able to take the test in a standard manner. 

✓ The individual is presently receiving (or has in the past received) services for intellectual giftedness in school, or the equivalent if gifted education was not available at the candidate’s school (e.g. honours or enriched classes).

WIAT-4 Standardization: Intellectual Disability Study (Mild) 

The candidate may participate if: 

✓ The individual is between 6-18 years old. Students still finishing secondary school but over the age of 18 will be accepted.

✓ The individual resides in Canada. 

✓ The individual is able to take the test in a standard manner.

✓ The individual is diagnosed with Intellectual Disability with Mild Severity.

✓ The individual has typically developing fine and gross motor ability except for mild motor impairment, as one would expect to normally occur in individuals with intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, and Down syndrome. 

✓ This may include students with a history of seizure disorder IF seizures are under control (i.e. specific the medication regimen and ensure it does not adversely affect performance), or the student has been seizure-free for a least 1 year.

WIAT-4 Standardization: Clinical Others

The candidate may participate if: 

✓ The individual is between 4-18 years old and enrolled in grades JK up to grade 12. Students still finishing secondary school but over the age of 18 will be accepted. 

✓ The individual resides in Canada. 

✓ The individual is able to take the test in a standard manner.

✓ The individual has a previous or current diagnosis of any of the following:

  • Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder

  • Developmental delay

  • Specific learning disability

  • Speech/language impairment
